Once Upon a Time... a young warrior who prefers her sword to the practice of politics, sets out on a quest to find her missing twin sister, hoping to avoid a royal marriage which will merge two kingdoms. With a dragon and a rather reluctant chaperone, she sets out on a quest which will change many lives... including her own.
Now you can read the story AND stitch the saga. From a crown and a sword to a princess and a dragon- The 12 archetypal fantasy characters and objects each have a page of the story, as well as a piece of the overall cross stitch design.
If stitched as an entire piece, this fantasy cross stitch design measures 140 stitches wide by 183 stitches tall. It is printed in a multi-page leaflet, with a color picture of the completed design on the cover. The chart is graphed in black and white symbols. A table showing the DMC colors you'll need is included. The pattern is printed over 2 pages in the center, so there is no need to match page edges. These characters and cross stitch designs were created by Jennifer L. Aikman-Smith, of Dragon Dreams.

To calculate the amount of fabric you will need for your project, divide the number of stitches by the stitch count of the fabric you wish to use. The higher the count of your fabric, the smaller your piece will be. Some examples appear below. Remember to leave several additional inches as a border on each side, to facilitate framing your project when it is finished.
