I truly wish I had miles of this fabric. That's how much I love it! But alas, there was only enough to make a couple of garments. In other words, grab it while you can. There won't be any more like this unless I get very lucky in my fabric shopping.
This little gem is the perfect blend of comfort, style, and economy. This cloak will definitely look at home in any setting, from historical, to fantasy and cosplay. The fabric is a lovely plaid, in navy blue and dark emerald green. It drapes and moves beautifully, without feeling bulky or uncomfortably heavy. A burn test indicates that the fiber content is at least partially synthetic. It washes beautifully.
This cloak measures 40" from the back of the neck to the bottom hem. The neck opening is 24 1/2" around. This cloak is shown on a 6-foot-tall mannequin.
This is a half-circle cloak. This means it uses less fabric to make, so it is considerably cheaper than a full-circle would be. It also does not weigh as much as a full-circle. But because there is less fabric, it will not keep you as warm. Just something to keep in mind when you are making your choice.
We know how hard it is to get a feel for a fabric, just from a description on a website, so we'd like to offer an alternative: Order a sample, and we'll mail you a 5" square of the fabric that was used to make this cloak. This way, you can see the details for yourself- the exact color, weight, texture, etc.
Just keep in mind that most of the cloaks we make are one-of-a-kind pieces. All sales are first-come, first-served. If you have your heart set on a particular piece, it might be best to go ahead and make your purchase immediately, knowing that you can return the cloak if it is not exactly what you are looking for.
What makes your cloaks so special? Before any sewing occurs, the fabric is washed in hot water and dried on high heat. The same happens with any trims that will be used. I typically do not know the fabric content of the materials I work with, and doing this ensures that there will be no unpleasant surprises, like shrinking or fading, down the road when you wash your cloak.
The finishing touches are what it's all about! All seams are flat felled or French seamed, all hems are double rolled and double stitched, and all corners are mitered. Yes, it's a pain, and yes it takes longer to make it that way, but it means that you will not have any raw edges on your cloak that will ravel.
In short, I take a great deal of pride in each cloak I make, because I want it to be something you will wear and enjoy for years to come. These are not cheap costume pieces, meant to wear once and throw away. They are carefully crafted garments which will stand up to years of wear and tear.
Does this item come from a smoke-free, pet-free home? Smoke-free? Most definitely. Pet-free? Absolutely not. Every cloak is washed once it is completed and ready to be shipped. But if you have super severe allergies, please keep in mind that my cats do like to "help" me as I sew.

Excellent. I bought a half-circle a couple years ago and wanted more. I had no hesitation with the higher price tag because I already knew the quality would be solid.
My daughter loves these. We are repeat buyers. Quality construction. Not your run-o-the-mill cheap Halloween stuff, this is lovingly crafted good-quality fabric that will not fall apart.
