This little Garnet Trinity Knot Pendant packs a powerful punch, despite its small size. The fire of the garnet teardrop is set off to perfection by the gleaming silver of the Celtic knot. Now, if you want something flashy and eye-catching, this may not be for you. But if you want a piece of jewelry that speaks with a whisper rather than a shout, then prepare to fall in love with this elegant Celtic pendant. Garnets have long been associated with fire and passion. And according to gemstone lore, they can protect travelers and promote good health.

What's a good excuse to give/get the Garnet Trinity Knot Pendant?
Garnet is the birthstone for the month of January, so anyone celebrating their birthday at the start of the year is likely to feel a strong affinity to this stone. Garnet jewelry is also a traditional gift for 2nd, 6th, or 19th wedding anniversaries. But you truly don't need any excuse to give this pendant to someone you care about. They will be head-over-heels-happy to receive it, any time of year.

How did garnet get its name?
Garnet takes its name from the latin word "granatum", meaning seed, as it was thought to resemble the bright red seeds of the pomegranate. There is a Greek myth that tells the story of Hades abducting Persephone, daughter of the Goddess Demeter. Before he released her, he offered her a pomegranate. Thinking no harm, she accepted the gift, and ate a few of the seeds.

But, otherworldly gifts often come with strings attached, and this was no exception. Persephone was thereby bound to Hades, and unable to leave his subterranean kingdom. Her mother, the goddess of the harvest, grieved so that the crops failed and famine threatened the land.

In the end, a compromise was reached, that Persephone would spend half the year with Hades, and then re-emerge each spring to the delight of her mother, who again caused the crops to thrive. Pomegranate seeds, and by extension, garnets, thus became a symbol of reunion after separation, and bonds of love which cannot be broken.

The Garnet Trinity Knot Pendant is cast from sterling silver.

It measures approximately 3/4" tall including the bail.

This pendant comes ready to wear on an 18" sterling silver chain.
