So warm, so soft, so snuggly - it's like wearing a hug from your favorite friend. The fabric in this cloak is loosely woven, and very thick and heavy. The color is so hard to describe. It is an irregular blend of cream and a light brownish mauve. From a distance, it looks like a solid color, with just a hint of a purplish cast to it. It drapes and moves beautifully, with no stiffness or scratchiness.

My husband made the clasp for this cloak, handworking the copper wire, and work hardening it, to make the piece as durable as it is beautiful.

This is a half-circle cloak. This means it uses less fabric to make, so it is considerably cheaper than a full-circle would be. It also does not weigh as much as a full-circle. The flip side of that is that it doesn't have the same sweep and swirl that a full circle cloak does.

What makes your cloaks so special?
Before any sewing occurs, the fabric is washed in hot water and dried on high heat. The same happens with any trims that will be used. I typically do not know the fabric content of the materials I work with, and doing this ensures that there will be no unpleasant surprises, like shrinking or fading, down the road when you wash your cloak.

The finishing touches are what it's all about! All seams are flat felled or French seamed, all hems are double rolled and double stitched, and all corners are mitered. Yes, it's a pain, and yes it takes longer to make it that way, but it means that you will not have any raw edges on your cloak that will ravel.

In short, I take a great deal of pride in each cloak I make, because I want it to be something you will wear and enjoy for years to come. These are not cheap costume pieces, meant to wear once and throw away. They are carefully crafted garments which will stand up to years of wear and tear.

Does this item come from a smoke-free, pet-free home?
Smoke-free? Most definitely. Pet-free? Absolutely not. Every cloak is washed once it is completed and ready to be shipped. But if you have super severe allergies, please keep in mind that my cats do like to "help" me as I sew.

This is a half-circle cloak.

This cloak measures 41" from the back of the neck to the bottom hem. The neck opening is 27 1/2" around. This cloak is shown on a 6-foot-tall mannequin.

This cloak is machine-washable. The fabric has been pre-washed before being sewn to prevent shrinking or fading.

There are no raw edges or serged edges in this cloak. All seams have been flat-felled or French seamed, and the hems have been double rolled and double stitched to prevent raveling. The corners have all been mitered for a clean, professional appearance.

This cloak was made in a smoke-free (but not pet-free) home.
