How Our Cloaks Are Made

How Our Cloaks Are Made

Every cloak we sew has its own story. Some find their way into historical fairs, some into fantasy adventures, and some simply become a favorite layer for everyday wear. But you can be sure that each one is made with care, attention, and a bit of joy — built to be worn and loved for years to come.

Preparing the Fabric

Before a single stitch is sewn, the fabric is washed and dried on high heat. This simple step helps prevent shrinking, fading, or other surprises later. We often don’t know the exact fiber content, but we choose every fabric for its look, feel, and drape — the qualities that make a cloak truly satisfying to wear.

It’s worth noting that we’re located in Georgia. What we call a winter-weight cloak is probably a bit different from what someone in, say, Michigan would consider winter-weight.

Cutting and Construction

Every cloak is individually cut by hand. Some are full-circle designs with generous coverage and dramatic movement, while others are lighter half-circle cloaks that use less fabric and have a slightly different drape.

Each cut has its own advantages, depending on what feels best to you and how you plan to wear it. Learn more about how to choose the right cloak for your needs, or explore our Handmade Cloaks Collection to see the styles and fabrics we offer.
