You can count on these beautiful triquetra earrings to be the perfect accent for any outfit, whether you're dressed in a business suit, a wedding gown, or a robe and cloak. This simple yet meaningful design has stood the test of time. For the early Celts, who loved grouping things into triads, this three part knot could stand for the Triple Goddess (Maiden, Mother, Crone), the Three Realms of the World (Water, Air, and Earth), the Individual (Mind, Body and Spirit), or even Time itself (past, present, and future). For Christians, it was a representation of the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost). In modern times, it is often used by pagans and wiccans as a symbol of their faith, much as the pentacle is.

Notice that the circle woven into the Celtic triquetra knot has no beginning and no end. It simply is. Like the Celts themselves, it is ageless and eternal.

Polished nickel-free sterling silver gleams like captured moonlight. The triquetra design measures approximately 1/2" tall, with an overall length of 1" including the French hook.

How do you pronounce "triquetra"?
It's "try-keh-truh" or "try-kweh-truh", with the accent on the second syllable. It's a word with Latin roots, referring to a three-part knot.

What is the difference between a triskele and a triquetra?
Triskel, triskele, or triskelion all have essentially the same meaning- the triple armed spiral design that is one of the oldest motifs found in art. Triquetras are a bit different. Although they also demonstrate the idea of a unified group of three, they use a three-part knot to express the idea, rather than a three-armed spiral. They often incorporate a circle in the design, either surrounding the knot, or woven through it. Triquetras are not nearly as old a design as triskeles are.
